Barbara Nolan

barbara_nolanBarbara Nolan is Head of the European Commission Representation in Ireland.

Prior to this, she was attached to the European Commission in Brussels and was in charge of the policies of reform and modernisation of Higher Education and the Erasmus student exchange programme. She has held a number of other management positions in the Commission including in the areas of Anti-Discrimination Policy and Communications.

She was the European Commission’s Spokesperson for Employment, Social Affairs and Health matters from 1993-1999 and was also the Commission’s Spokesperson for Justice and Home Affairs 1993-1994.

Barbara studied economics and politics at University College Dublin and at the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium.
