Lisa Chambers is a Fianna Fáil TD for Mayo and the Party’s spokesperson on Defence and currently sits on three Dáil committees Children and Youth Affairs, Budgetary Oversight and Foreign Affairs and Defence.
She was elected for the first time to Dáil Éireann in 2016 and was appointed to the Fianna Fáil front bench, shadow cabinet, by party leader Micheál Martin. Between 2014 and 2016 Lisa served as a Councillor on Mayo County Council for the Castlebar electoral area.
While a member of Mayo County Council, Lisa was a representative on the HSE West Councillor’s forum. She also sat on the board of Mayo Sligo Leitrim Education and Training Board and was a member of the Economic Policy strategic policy committee (SPC) on Mayo County Council.
Lisa also served three terms on the Fianna Fáil national executive as party Vice President.
Prior to entering politics Lisa was a barrister practicing on the Western Circuit. She was called to the bar in 2011 and worked for the Financial Ombudsman Service in London for a year before returning to Ireland to begin her legal practice. During her time as a barrister she worked primarily in the areas of family law, personal injuries law and criminal law.
Before her election to Dáil Éireann Lisa was a member of the Reserve Defence Forces and served for 13 years in the organisation. Throughout that time she climbed through the ranks, being promoted to corporal and eventually 2nd Lieutenant. Lisa had just completed her Young Officers Course in 2015.
Lisa has a degree in Commerce from NUI Galway, and LL.B from NUI Galway and a Masters in Commercial Law from UCD. She was awarded the Barrister-at-Law Degree from Kings Inns in 2011.
In her spare time Lisa likes running, hiking and spending time with family and friends.
