The 2024 Summer School will be opened on Thursday, 29th of August by His Excellency Paul Johnston, British Ambassador to Ireland.

 

Paul Johnston was born in Scotland and graduated from Glasgow university with an MA in Political Science and Government. He joined the UK Civil Service in 1990, working initially, for the Ministry of Defence.

In his early career, he served in Paris and New York and also had a wide range of political and security roles in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London.

Paul was British Ambassador to Sweden from August 2011 to August 2015 and then was Deputy Permanent Representative to NATO.

He was UK Ambassador to the EU for Political and Security affairs from 2017 to January 2020 and was appointed Ambassador to Ireland in September of that year.
