Marion McKeone is an award-winning journalist, who has also worked as a barrister, broadcaster, writer, documentary maker and consultant. Currently employed as the Sunday Business Post’s US Correspondent, she’s a regular contributor to RTE 1 and RTE 2 Radio, BBC Radio and Virgin Media TV. She and Cal Thomas feature on the popular US Round Up slot on Today FM with Matt Cooper each week.
She has also written for the New York Times, the London Times, US News and World Report, the Guardian, the Irish Independent, the Daily Mail and the Irish Times and several current affairs periodicals. In the US she has been a contributor for National Public Radio (NPR) and MSNBC.
For five years, she worked the director of media, advocacy and communications for Save the Children and as consultant on projects with other agencies including UNHCR and UNICEF. She was part of the Senior Management Teams that headed the emergency responses to the 2011/12 famine in Somalia and the ongoing crisis in Syria.
As a writer she has covered global events from the end of apartheid in South Africa to the 9/11 terror attacks to the inauguration of Barack Obama as president of the United States., Her work has taken her all over the world, including Africa, the Middle East, North and South America and Europe.
She received the NewsBrands Best Foreign Reporting award in 2020 and 2021 for her coverage of the US 2020 election, the coronavirus pandemic and the racial justice protests of 2020.
