Gavan Reilly is a journalist, broadcaster and author. He is currently the political correspondent at Virgin Media News (formerly TV3 News), based at Leinster House, where he covers major Irish, European and international political stories. He also co-hosts the station’s popular news podcast ‘The Group Chat’ and occasionally appears as presenter of The Tonight Show. He also presents Newstalk’s flagship Sunday morning current affairs programme ‘On The Record’, winner of the silver prize for Current Affairs Programme at the 2021 IMRO Radio Awards. He was named as Ireland’s most influential journalist on Twitter by the Murray Tweet Index in 2019 and 2020, and as the most influential political journalist on Twitter every year since 2015. He previously worked as political correspondent at Today FM, where he was a regular host of The Last Word, and prior to that as a reporter covering political affairs at TheJournal.ie. He is a columnist with the Meath Chronicle and the author of the well-reviewed ‘Enda the Road: Nine Days that Toppled a Taoiseach’ (Merrion Press, 2019), chronicling the Garda whistleblower scandal which ultimately caused the resignation of Enda Kenny.
